Welcome to the Project
Welcome to the Creative Engagements: Thinking with Children project home page. The project aims to explore multi- and inter-disciplinary perspectives on creatively engaging with children. Assessing the complex issues which surround the notion of creative engagement in the context of education, the project will also examine how creative engagement can be located in institutional pedagogy and the curriculum, explore the implications and impact of the ‘philosophy for children’ movement, and look at how children can develop social and life skills whilst also encouraging autonomy and independence.

Core Themes for Development
The main themes to be developed within this research project are presently collected together under four main headings;

1. Creativity, Engagement and Education

2. Creativity, Pedagogy and Curriculum

3. Philosophy, Critical and Cultural Thinking and Children

4. Engagement, Skills and Life Issues

Related themes will also be identified for development and exploration. Out of our deliberations it is anticipated that a series of related cross context research projects will develop.
