Hi everyone. Thought I would at least place a marker on the apparently virgin site and say welcome from me - and ask for any thoughts to be posted soon! If anyone has some feedback for me on my paper or any comments I made is the sessions I would be delighted to discuss.
I wanted to mention the TED wish granted to Karen Armstrong for a global Charter for Compassion which was finally launched on 12 November. Please see http://charterforcompassion.org/ If you feel so inclined, I would urge everyone to sign and commit to supporting the charter and look for ways to use it in learning events.
We spoke relatively little on ways to tackle bullying, but for me, the route of compassion is a key potential to try and activate.
In peace
Dave
Dear all,
Well done Dave for making the first post.
It was so inspiring for me to meet everyone at the conference and to be part of interdisciplinary.net. In the words of a great Irish song writer (Luka Bloom), “thank you for bringing me here.”
I thought Dave’s email great and the compassion charter link also encouraging but I have reservations about the domination of voices from the USA on utube. I have the same reservations but more acutely for similar voices from the UK.
Global power must be owned recognised and acknowledged.
Many papers and discussions with people have stayed with me and furnished me the courage to undertake all sorts of risks.
I know that the culture of respect and the ways power and authority are implemented are crucial, as are owing our own part in the whole systemic process. Agata (Poland) called this in her paper the ’sins of omission”.
Hoping this blog with the strength to take action against bullying and compel me and others to always be mindful that e are always part of the audience.
Care and compassion and ‘cuidate’ to you all
