We warmly wlecome your thoughts, comments and contributions to the issues and discussions.
Hi Rob,
Thank you for the welcome. As a practicing witch, a Theosophist and an academic I’m very interested in this project. I have only just found out about it and so I am not sure exactly what I can contribute as yet.
Jenny
Hi, This looks like a very interesting project! I’ll be interested to see how it develops. I may well submit a paper for consideration. You might be interested in a project I’ve been doing for the past three years as part of my arts practice. I’ve been living my life in Belfast, Northern Ireland as a practicing magus. The project is humorous, but that doesn’t detract form the seriousness of my playing! Have a look and feel free to comment!
Hi Justin,
the project sounds fascinating: can you post a link so that people interested in your project can take a look please? I hope you can make it to the meeting in March!
Hi Jenny,
what an amazing combination! I wonder if we should start a thread on Theosophy? I’m familiar with theodicy - but haven’t encountered theosophy before. Would it be possible to say more about your understanding of what it is? Many thanks!
Greetings, one and all!
I am so happy that folks have found us here so quickly! I am really looking forward to this project — the first step of course, being to read the abstracts that are submitted for consideration. I expect the to be a fascinating collection of proposals about a myriad of wonderful subjects all related to the various aspects of the project.
Besides my various academic projects and my involvement with I-D.net, I am also nearing completion of a novel, a historical fantasy, that involves a great deal of magic and witchcraft that — cross our collective fingers! — will far outsell anything Dan Brown has produced thus far! Will keep you posted on the progress of that project as well.
I am currently in SE Ireland doing folklore research for the novel. I have discovered enough to use in several stories yet-to-come!
Looking forward to talking more with each and every one of you that shares an interest in what we are hoping to accomplish here!
Stephen
Hello one and all! I am so thrilled that this project has already begun - we most certainly are so excited to have a magical conference at last! As a practising and solitary Wiccan, I am so excited to discuss these issues with other academics, researchers and other magical folk.
The good Rev. Evil, Stephen Morris and I spent a lovely day in Waterford discussing magical places and setting, and his first hand research for his novel (I too pray you outsell Dan Brown). What struck me most about our day together is the amout of Irish folk tales, of murders, fairies, hauntings, prophecies and other local stories, that dominate Irish life. As an Irish woman, I gave this no great amount of thought beyond my own personal beliefs until the other day. The magical persuasions of the Irish can be found in numerous places, much to my own delight and I have since uncovered some stories that still chill the blood of local townships.
More to follow on the magnificent blog, and please do post Jenny, on Theosophy. I am intrigued about this!
Sorcha
Hi Robert,
I submitted a proposal for the conference on September 30th and resent four days ago, and have received no acknowledgement of receipt as of yet. Can you please email me at G.Ashurst@mmu.ac.uk.
Best wishes,
Gail
I look forward to a lively discussion. On this coming Saturday, in Berkeley California, a panel and discussion on Magical Religious activity will be convened. Google Theurgicon for detailed information. I am not a presenter, but will attend and report if relevant. The presenters cover a wide spectrum of theological magic users, many influenced by the Golden Dawn and the legacy of Crowley, but also Gerald Gardner, Robert Graves, Egyptian reconstructions at various levels of proficiency, etc. Like Sorcha, my own practice can be described as solitary Wiccan, except for the singularity that is created by the rich, varied, and populous Pagan and Heathen and etc. community of the San Francisco Bay Area. No place to hide when your friends cover the spectrum.
blog.beliefnet.com/apagansblog/ This is Gus DiZerega’s BeliefNet blog, with a multi-post review of Theurgicon, as noted in my earlier post.
Search blog for Theurgicon and be fed.
