HomeAt the InterfaceVisions of the Humanin Cyberculture, Cyberpunk and Science Fiction

Welcome to the Cyberworlds, Virtual Reality series of projects. These are innovative, cutting-edge inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary research forums designed to bring multiple insights and perspectives to bear on issues relating to the rapidly developing area of cyberculture and the implications for human living and practice.

Projects in this series will broadly examine and explore the impact of revolutions in technology on the way we live, think and even exist. Projects will focus on and explore particular areas which have a significant impact on human life, looking at the internet, the ways in which information technology is shaping the way we think and work, the impact of cyberspace on sexuality, politics, economics and culture, the growth of biotechnology and cyborg persons, and the implications of cybercultures for our understanding of community and community issues - policing, crime, identities, democracy.

The projects will be built around an annual conference which seeks to draw a global audience of people from differing academic disciplines, professions, vocations and organisations to engage in cutting edge dialogue and conversation. Each project will be supported via an active publication series (CD - Rom, eBooks, and hard copy publishing) and online discussion groups.

Initially three projects are being launched in 2003;

Links to each project will become live as further details are released. Further projects will be launched for 2004 - and if you would like to propose or lead a project, please do not hesitate to contact us.
