The work of the project revolves around the annual series of conferences staged each February. These will also be supplemented in the coming years by a growing number of one-day regional meetings and seminars held across Europe and the USA which will supplement and consolidate the work of the project. The conferences aim to create working 'encounter' groups - giving the opportunity to meet and open conversations with people from different disciplines, professions, organisations, etc. It is a chance to explore perspectives and insights that would not usually be encountered - and allows for the chance to explore not only one's own territory again through different eyes, but also to seek new possibilities for mutual co-operation and further research. The conferences are genuinely inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary. As such they are a rewarding, engaging, and stimulating meeting place in terms of the variety of ideas and approaches that are brought together; the conversations are exciting and always innovative. And the publications which arise from these provide the chance for bringing cutting edge research to the foreground of contemporary discussions.
The conference series rotates around four inter-locking areas. For 2004 the Steering Group decided to extend the 2003 conference theme and continue specific research and exploration of the theme of Environments, Sustainability and Technologies.
The project will keep a full record of all the meetings and conferences staged. This will provide an invaluable resource of materials for developing future research and publishing opportunities. The archives will keep the conferences programmes, abstracts and conference papers. These are stored in .pdf format - so you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader in order to be able to access them. This growing collection of materials will also serve
as an important resource tool. The references and sources referred to
in the papers will form an important database of materials which will
be able to be accessed by any one who is working on issues connected to
the project. Please see the Research and
Resource section for further information. |
