4B - Workshop Following an introduction by the leader of this workshop, the participants will explore the issues that present to health professionals when caring for dying patients of different faiths. Small group work will afford the participants the opportunity to share experiences and difficulties they have encountered. There will be three groups and each group will consider a scenario particular to one of the three monotheistic faiths. A plenary session at the end of the workshop will present the conclusions and suggest ways of ensuring that respect and peace of mind for individual patients at the end of life is achieved. A maximum of twenty four people from a variety of professional backgrounds will be accepted to take part in this workshop. The leader of this workshop is Reader in the Clinical Research Centre for Health Professions at the University of Brighton. She has extensive experience in teaching about pain management and transcultural issues in health in the UK, Europe and the Middle East. She specializes in experiential learning and teaching. In addition to conducting qualitative research she works as a counsellor as part of a pain management team. Please Note: Numbers for this workshop are capped at 25.
