Comradeship Facing Death
Asa Kasher
Laura Schwarz-Kipp Professor of  Professional Ethics and Philosophy of Practice, Tel-Aviv University, and academic advisor, IDF College of National Defense, Israel

During military anti-terror activity in the Gaza Strip, an IDF vehicle was targeted by Palestinians. It carried explosives and therefore when hit all the troops on it were killed at once and their dismembered bodies dispersed. Commanders carried out a mission of looking for remains of the dead soldiers, though the area was dangerous. A debate emerged as to whether such a mission should have taken place or not. I would like to describe the problems and argue for an affirmative answer.
