Perspectives on Evil and Human Wickedness publishes scholarly work, personal reflections and practitioners’ accounts relating to classifying, defining, and probing different aspects of evil and wickedness. It aims to shed light on the origins and manifestations of evil as well as on the diverse angles from which we can understand, tackle, surmount, or come to terms with it. Perspectives on Evil and Human Wickedness does not espouse any ideological viewpoint or favour any specific theoretical framework, but encourages a plurality of perspectives aimed at advancing research on this topic.

Relevant methodological, theoretical, vocational and practical approaches are sought to enrich the debate undertaken by this journal. It is hoped that Perspectives on Evil and Human Wickedness will quickly assert itself as an important intellectual venue where the different disciplines and professions can come together to reflect upon evil. The dialogical nature of the discussion that this journal aims to foster is indicative of a research philosophy which aims to cross disciplinary and professional boundaries in building a multi-layered set of frameworks within which to view and understand evil.

The journal will be of interest to those who are engaged in

  • anthropology, criminology, cultural studies, legal studies, literature, philosophy, psychology, sociology, and theology

Scope

The journal is related to the work of the research and publications projects within the Evil Hub. In addition to multiple electronic and hard copy publications, the work of the journal is supported and enhanced by an electronic discussion group and eForum. The journal warmly welcomes contributions from any one who wishes to engage in the issues and debates at the heart of this exciting and challenging project. Perspectives on Evil and Human Wickedness is an innovative global discussion space established to further understanding, facilitate exchanges, and encourage informed debate on world-wide issues and trends related to evil and suffering. The journal promotes cutting edge research and reflection through the deliberate policy of engaging in inter- and multi-disciplinary perspectives and communicating in language which is clear and accessible. Editions will contain, among other things, articles, review features, reflective practitioner and vocational models, along with stop-and-go reflection exercises which combine historical and contemporary research.
