Transformations in Politics, Culture and Society: Media Perspectives

Munich, Germany
Friday 7th - Saturday 8th December 2001

Some of the details provided below are still awaiting final confirmation. Further details, information and changes will be added as and when they become available. Please keep checking this page for regular updates.

Papers, Reports, and Presentations
The stated aim of the conference is to create working 'encounter' groups between people of differing perspectives, disciplines, professions, and contexts. As such, the emphasis of the conference sessions will be on engaging with the issues raised in papers and presentations rather than on simply listening to the presentation of the paper.

Following the submission of a 300 word abstract, accepted delegates will submit an 8 page paper; all conference papers will be available on this website before the conference commences.

At the conference, delegates will be given 15 minutes to speak to the main points of their paper and point to the significant themes and issues they wish to highlight and discuss further. Thus the project will have the structure of a traditional conference presentation, but will attempt to develop a friendly and informal work-in-progress/ working party atmosphere.

Publication Process
Exact details are yet to be confirmed, but the following process is anticipated. Please keep checking this page for confirmed details and changes.

All papers accepted for and presented at the conference will be published as a set of conference proceedings/reports in an ISBN eBook. Selected papers will go forward for development into 15-20 page chapters in themed volumes.

Editors for both the eBook and themed volumes will be sought from those attending the conference.
